My aunty fell hard into the candy crush rabbit hole when it first came out. I was a lot younger and naïve and being a smart arsed tosser I would always say to my cousin that she is wasting her time/life away – what a complete arsehole thing to say btw, please note that I was about 15.
I’ve realised now that life is all about finding things to do that you enjoy! It has taken me a while to realise this and I think that I am still searching for it. I’ve got friends families that have passions, sometimes odd ones such as collecting DVDS (still now) or cricket.
One of my biggest issues is that my mindset revolves around ‘wasting time’ and feeling guilty for not doing more. This means that spending 3 hours playing cricket or golf is pointless because I am rubbish at it, it didn’t matter that I enjoyed it.
I don’t know if you have played Sims before but the learning icons and levelling up was once how I saw my spare time. I would (and still do to a certain extent) feel bad about rotting in front of the TV. This led to a somewhat unhealthy (although some would say healthy) balance of needing to feel like I was achieving something all the time.
I tried learning languages, going to the gym even cleaning out the cupboard of old food (so satisfying btw). What I was not doing is allowing myself the time for my brain got get the occasional rot, the me time or the RELAXATION in whatever form that took.
Just as I was getting the hang of this, two little children have torn their way into my life, so I don’t even have time for the productive activities – Yes ok, loving and raising my kids is productive.
But back to my point – its not a waste of time if you enjoy it – so enjoy it!

I’m on level 1,362 of candy crush and loving it (when I can).
Enjoy!!!!!
