We and had a nice family walk today in and around the rain.
Walking across to the park and field where there is a fancy little cafe, inevitably my three year old negotiated (demanded) an ice cream at 1105 in the morning – please don’t judge.
The queue was awful and the server took my order of a chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone with flake and chocolate sauce – my kid doesn’t know she is born, 99 mr whippy with fluorescent red sauce was my childhood.
The server, then popped the order into a complicated till and took to creating the chocolate ice cream. I should add that this is ordered every other day – again my daughter doesn’t know she is born!
People in the queue were getting unreasonably frustrated with this young server and the wait time.
I must confess that I was wondering if the ice cream had been forgotten and peaked my head around to witness Anxiety personified.
Probably not expecting to serve Ice Cream at 1105 in the morning and in the rain the server was ill equipped resulting in at least 4 broken waffles cones surrounding the Ice Cream counter and their colleagues had taken to watching the carnage unfold with perplexed looks on their faces.
Eventually there was Acceptance from all involved that a waffle cone was just not going to happen and a rather large POT of Ice Cream was thrust into my hand by a very apologetic server.
You can imagine how well this went down with my daughter… Anarchy!
There was no reasoning with her, she did not understand that she had more Ice Cream nor did she care, the server trying their best to help thought handing her an empty a waffle cone would help, makes sense to you and me but to a three year old this just resulted in mass confusion – why is there no Ice Cream in the cone!
This was all solved with the purchase of a chocolate egg and we will be walking the other way around the park in the future!
